Day 3

I will start by saying that day 2 was good. Had the usual breakfast/lunch, and ate dinner at my parents, which are also participating in this experiment. Dinner was composed of a delicious lentil and spinach soup, baked fish (tilapia?) and spinach salad with carrots and olive oil/balsamic vinegar sauce. Good stuff.

I couldn't resist weighing myself this morning, and was surprisingly pleased: I lost 5lbs in the two days I have been on this regimen!!! Hopefully, this is a sign of more good thing to come.

As for the cold factor: still using the icepack for 30 mins, but this morning I was so chilled (thank you canadian winter) that i just couldn't go through with the cold shower.

Also, drinking coffee with cream and no sugar isn't as horrible as I thought it might be!

I'm a happy camper, got some great news today :)

Day 2

Gotta admit not used to cooking my meals in the morning. It's gonna take some getting used to. The big motivation for sticking to this diet is day 6 and of course ultimately dropping 20 lbs of fat in a month. I have to admit that I'm a little bit skeptical about the idea of losing weight/fat quickly. It goes against everything I've ever read. I'm hoping the exercises will stave off the saggy skin associated with rapid weight loss. It's only 11 am, but I'm already looking forward to this evenings glass of wine.

Starting the slow carb diet

I wanted to create this blog to share our (my wife and myself) experience with the slow carb diet, as explained in Timothy Ferris' book the 4-hour body. I read about it in Wired, and was very intrigued. My wife bought me the book shortly after, and I tornadoed through it. Needless to say, I am very excited about this diet as I have more than a few pounds that need immediate shedding, Canadian winter notwithstanding.

I got a group together, and we started the diet today, January 3rd 2010.

Day 1:

Here are the meals we had today:

Breakfast was a delicious affair, one whole egg with 1/3 of container of eggwhites omelette with spinach and mushrooms with a side of black beans and tomatoes. Substituted the usual morning coffee with an unsweetened jasmine tea.

Lunch was a big salad with black beans, tomatoes, cucumbers and chunks of cooked turkey. Olive oil and balsamic vinegar vinaigrette. Very tasty, but not very filling as I was starting to get hungry by 5 pm.

Dinner was a chili made with ground lean turkey meat, kidney beans, veggies and tomato sauce. I had two bowls!

A glass of wine after the meal... gotta love this diet! Notice my home-made T-handle in the background...

Will do the required exercises tonight, wednesday and friday, as well as apply an icepack for 30 mins every night on my upper back.

I am planning a masterful binge this Saturday :)
